My work engages in dialogue between spirit an earthly reality.

Rooted in nature, whether by observation or fleeting experience, and steeped in reverence for the ancients and modernists, the work manifests.

The medium, whether painting, drawing, or work on marble pays homage to the visceral experience of existing. The entanglement of vine that clings to the austerity of concrete surface speaks eloquently of order and chaos, grit and reflection, luminosity and shade, flatness and depth, all acting as metaphor of our own in existence within the construct.

Surface and mark-making unify abstraction with associative relations. My respect and love for nature informs the work and strives for an abstract “condition.” Critical to the process is a level of automatism, allowing the ensuing dialogue to dictate direction, perhaps to the point of obliteration.  To celebrate the innocence of spirt and, oftentimes, repress expertise of craft is a balance worthy of pursuit.
